Sailing at CSSC
Sailors at Chapman Sands enjoy access to some of the most extensive waters in the South of England. Situated in the Thames Estuary we are sheltered from the open sea and in easy reach by water of Leigh-on-Sea, Southend Pier, North Kent Coast to name but a few places. All Hallows directly to the South of us is exactly 2.5 miles across the Thames

In truth we rarely venture into the Middle Reaches or the Outer Estuary, but anyone would be hard pushed to sail a lot further and get back again in a day!
Sailing boats are launched from a wooden slipway gaining access to the water up to 4 hours each side of High Water - sometimes even longer. The photos below were taken half an hour before high water.
The club has 4 Topper Topaz Unos for training and use by members on a pay per-sail-basis.

Seen in these pictures rigged with main sail only, but each boat also has a jib.

Money raised pays for upkeep of the boats.
